This page explains what personal information Oakside Digital collects, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. If anything here is unclear, email hello@oakside.digital and we will explain.

Who we are

Oakside Digital is a trading name of Isaac Merchant, a sole trader based in the UK. Isaac is the data controller for the information described here. The best way to reach us about anything on this page is hello@oakside.digital. If you would rather write, ask by email for a postal address.

Analytics and cookies

We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind. This site sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. Fonts and scripts load from oakside.digital rather than an outside network, so opening a page does not tell Google or anyone else that you visited. That is why there is no cookie banner.

The one thing that reaches outside the site is the booking window. It is run by Cal.com and only loads if you click "Book a call". Once it is open, Cal.com may set cookies that it needs to work. See the Cal.com privacy policy and cookie policy.

The contact form

If you use the form, we collect your name, email address, and message. We use them to reply to you and to follow up. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering enquiries, and, where you are asking about working together, taking steps at your request before a possible contract.

The form runs on Netlify. Submissions are stored in our Netlify account and emailed to us. There is a hidden field that catches spam bots. We do not use a CAPTCHA or any behavioural scoring.

Booking a call

When you book a call through Cal.com you give it your name, email address, time zone, and anything you write in the notes. The booking then appears in our calendar. We use this to arrange and hold the call.

Email and phone

If you email us or call the number on our contact card, we keep that correspondence and the contact details in it, so we can deal with what you raised and keep a record of it.

Server logs

Our host, Netlify, keeps standard access logs: IP address, the pages requested, timestamps, the referring page, and the browser type. Every web server records this. We use it to run the site and to look into faults. We do not link it to anything else or use it to identify you.

Who else sees your data

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. A few service providers handle data on our behalf, under contract:

• Netlify, for hosting, server logs, and contact form handling. Based in the USA.
• Cal.com, for call scheduling, and only when you open the booking window. Based in the USA.
• Namecheap Private Email, for email on our oakside.digital addresses. Based in the USA.

We will also hand over information if the law requires it, or to establish or defend a legal claim.

Data sent outside the UK

Netlify, Cal.com, and Namecheap Private Email are US companies, so some data is processed in the United States. Where that happens we rely on the safeguards UK law recognises: the UK extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, or the International Data Transfer Agreement otherwise. Ask us if you want the detail for a specific provider.

How long we keep things

• Enquiries that do not go anywhere: deleted within 12 months of the last message.
• Enquiries that turn into work: kept for the length of the project and 6 years after it, for contract and tax records.
• Bookings: 12 months in our calendar and Cal.com account.
• Server logs: kept by Netlify for a short period under their own policy.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

• send you a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
• correct anything that is wrong or incomplete;
• delete your data, or limit how we use it;
• stop processing that relies on our legitimate interest;
• send your data to you or another provider in a common format.

Email hello@oakside.digital and we will respond within a month. There is normally no charge.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you told us first so we can put it right.

Changes to this page

If we change how we handle personal data, we will publish a new version of this page and update the date at the top.
